The Royal Canadian Air Force to acquire the MQ-9B SkyGuardian Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS). This will provide the Canadian Armed Forces with the ability to conduct long endurance missions over significant distances, using a variety of sensors. The MQ-9B will enable airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, with near-real time information. It will also support special security events such as international summits like the G7, and CAF operations in aid of civil authority, such as forest fires and flood response. In deployed operations, an RPAS will provide commanders an overview of operational situations with near real-time information. The system will be capable of detecting, recognizing, identifying, tracking, and engaging targets of interest in complex environments. It will also enable Canada to optimally fulfill its North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and NATO missions while increasing interoperability with U.S. and NATO forces. #military #defense #defence #militaryleakhttps://lnkd.in/gNUU33sf

The Oron intelligence-gathering aircraft quickly became operational during Israel’s war on Hamas and has already carried out hundreds of operational flight hours and almost 100 sorties, according to the Israel Ministry of Defense (MoD). The aircraft was developed jointly by the Israel Ministry of Defense’s research and development arm, Israeli Aerospace Industry’s Elta subsidiary, the Israel Air Force, Intelligence Corps and the Navy. It is equipped with sensors and C4I systems that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) says it will provide unprecedented intelligence capabilities across expansive terrain, enabling real-time monitoring of ground movements under diverse weather and visibility conditions. #military #defense #defence #militaryleakhttps://lnkd.in/g6f4SWJE

Northrop Grumman and Taiwanese aerospace company Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) have officially announced a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing the reconnaissance, search, and early warning capabilities of Taiwan’s E-2K Hawkeye airborne early warning (AEW) aircraft fleet. The Republic of China Air Force (RoCAF) faces the imperative task of bolstering its capabilities to counter the growing obsolescence of the E-2K fleet, a critical component in safeguarding Taiwan’s airspace. The E-2K fleet plays a pivotal role in Taiwan’s aerial surveillance and command-and-control functions, effectively monitoring airspace and identifying potential threats. Recognizing the aircraft’s indispensable role in maintaining national security, AIDC and Northrop Grumman have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to explore potential upgrade plans. The MOU, signed on 23 February at the 2024 Singapore Airshow, outlines their commitment to supporting the RoCAF in fortifying its reconnaissance and early warning capabilities. #military #defense #defence #militaryleak https://lnkd.in/gpD8Bd-s
